τι εννοείς «πλέον»; από πέρυσι είχε 75 περιβαλλοντικά προαπαιτούμενα που υποτίθεται εκπλήρωσε για να πάρει άδεια και η αποφυγή/αποκατάσταση μπάζων είναι ένα από τα mitigating actions. δεν είναι κάτι απρόβλεπτο για να δικαιολογήσει καθυστέρηση τής επόμενης απόπειρας.

According to computer models, at that time, Starlink satellites were involved every week in about 1,600 encounters between two spacecraft closer than 0.6 miles (1 kilometer). That's about 50% of all such incidents. This number rises with every new batch of satellites launched into space. By the time Starlink deploys all 12,000 satellites of its first-generation constellation it could reach 90%, Lewis said.

για μένα δεν ξέρω, πάντως η FCC που ακύρωσε την επιδότηση τού Starlink σίγουρα κάτι παραπάνω θα ξέρει.

η μη-επιδοτηση της FCC αφορα "applications [which] failed to demonstrate that the providers could deliver the promised service" και "ventures that are not delivering the promised speeds or are not likely to meet program requirements".

το Starlink σίγουρα θεωρείται και είναι απαραίτητο για την επιβίωση τής SpaceX, αλλά σαν πάροχος στην καλύτερη λαμβάνει εύφημο μνεία για προσπάθεια. υπ'όψη ότι δορυφορικό ίντερνετ είναι ήδη ευρέως διαθέσιμο. έλεος με τα fanboys.

back on topic, κατά τ'άλλα μια χαρά δουλίτσα κάνει η SpaceX, άσχετα αν το Mars colonisation είναι folly. δυστυχώς αναβλήθηκε σήμερα η εκτόξευση τού ViaSat-3 Americas, που θα καλύπτει 1/3 τού κόσμου, και το παράθυρο κλείνει μευθαύριο! (αν και μάλλον θα'χουν κάνει ήδη αίτηση για παράταση)
