Re: Sopor Aeternus
Poison
"People gazed, and people said:
"it looked so beautiful, when you two danced!
Oh, it was magical, we all could tell,
he really loves you, too ... in his own way!"
Yes, that is right,
all this is true,
but it's not magic,
no, it's just the booze.
Whisky brings out the "love" in him,
a "love" that, when he's sober,
he cannot feel.
I was all new to this "spirits" thing,
I just did not know, 'cause I never used to drink.
I wondered, how a bond that seemed so strong
when we were together ... be suddenly gone?
Well, it's quite simple, NOTHING is real!
It's only the alcohol that he feels.
I had to learn all this the hardest way:
his love disappeared
came the light of day.
It's quite confusing
and awfully cruel,
you feel like an idiot,
a gawd-damn fool,
when the love that you feel for him
was never the drugs,
but in fact the real thing.
Yes, it is sad,
but sadly it's true:
there is no magic,
there is only booze.
Whisky brings out his "love" for me,
a love that, when he's sober,
he never feels."

Re: Sopor Aeternus
In the greenest of our valleys
By good angels tenanted
Once a fair and stately palace
Radiant palace, reared its head
In the monarch Thought's dominion
It stood there
Never seraph spread a pinion
Over fabric half so fair
Banners yellow, glorious, golden
On its roof did float and flow
This, all this, was in the olden time so long ago
And every gentle air that dallied
In that sweet day
Along the ramparts plumed and pallid
A winged odor went away
Wanderers in that happy valley
Through two luminous windows, saw
Spirits moving musically
To a lute's well-tuned law
And round about the throne where, sitting
Porphyrogene
In state his glory well-befitting
The ruler of this realm was seen
And all with pearl and ruby glowing
Was the fair palace door
Through which came flowing, flowing, flowing
And sparkling evermore
A troop of Echoes, whose sweet duty
Was but to sing
In voices of surpassing beauty
The wit and wisdom of their king
But evil things, in robes of sorrow
Assailed the monarch's high estate
Ah, let us mourn! For never morrow
Shall dawn upon him desolate
And round about his home
The glory that blushed and bloomed
Is but a dim-remembered story
Of the old time entombed
And travelers, now, within that valley
Through the red-litten windows see
Vast forms, that move fantastically
To a discordant melody
While, like a ghastly rapid river
Through the pale door
A hideous throng rush out forever
And laugh, but smile no more
By good angels tenanted
Once a fair and stately palace
Radiant palace, reared its head
In the monarch Thought's dominion
It stood there
Never seraph spread a pinion

Re: Sopor Aeternus
We're sailors, soldiers, cops and rangers,
Fire-fighters too,
We're marching men in uniform
Our queen is fair and true
Oh, she's so lonely on her throne
Cold is the sceptre that she holds
She made the greatest sacrifice
For the poses that she's destined to strike
Brothers in arms I tend to ignore,
I am sadly waving a sigh from the other shore
It is by far not an easy thing
To delight the barren heart of the Virgin Queen
Brothers in arms she tends to ignore
She is sadly waving a sigh
From the other shore
It is by far not an easy thing
To delight the barren heard
Of the Virgin Queen ...
